The first
title sequence that I watched was the Box trolls movie. The significance that
the first shot is a box troll sliding down a sewer pipe allows the viewer to
understand that they have hidden themselves really deep underground to avoid
humans from seeing them. The opening sequence also provides you with key
information, a few are that: box trolls use boxes to hide themselves in when a
human is near, they are hunted by three men , box trolls are smart but clumsy
creatures. One important fact that is clearly shown in the opening sequence is
that box trolls are very good at using scraps to produce something incredible
such as the farers wheel in the 4-5th shot. This particular sequence
gives you a feeling of adventure as well as some childish humour. The
soundtrack was difficult to understand but it complements the sense of adventure
that is portrayed by the animation. I believe that the soundtrack was a way to
provide the audience with an insight on how box trolls perceive human beings.

The second opening sequence I watched was mission impossible: ghost protocol.
This opening is a large contrast on the box troll’s. It immediately shows you
the star of the film but also the team he leads. The complexity of the missions
the team does is clearly portrayed by the way the wire has been cleverly been
used as it passes many areas in which would be difficult to have entered; e.g.
thick bars, under water, in guarded building etc. The wire passes through many different
environments and snippets of the movie with the main character and his team (gives
an insight on what is going to take place). You can gain a feeling the genre
and tone of the film by how fast the wire is burning, flicking through
different places and causing the viewer to anticipate the bomb to finally
explode. The soundtrack also assists in the title sequence’s aim for its
viewers to understand that this film is an action as it is upbeat but tension
filled.
