What is the purpose of a title sequence?

Purpose of a title sequence

The title sequence is the way in which the film suspends disbelief. This allows the viewer to feel apart of the fictional world created by the film. Setting the tone of the film is one of the factors that must be done to be classed as a good open sequence, below is the fast and furious 6 opening sequence as I feel it gives a visual of what I explained above. like the title sequence below all good sequences introduce the film's genre, this is important as it allows the viewer to get in the specific mood needed to enjoy the film that is about to be shown. The opening sequence also allows the opportunity to provide  the viewer with information on who is involved in creating the film, e.g director's name , producers etc. Ident is key tool used to inform the viewers who are the studio and distributors of the film.
