What is Genre (unfinished)

Genres is a clever way to categorise different products that share similar features. In film there is a wide spectrum of genres, from action to chick flick. The importance of categorizing films is that it helps to establish certain codes and conventions that directors of a film can follow to make the end product fit the stereotypical. assumptions of the genre, helps to establish certain expectations and familiarity in audiences.

My top three film genres are as follows:

1) Thriller

It's the sense of the unknown that I like the most about thrillers because you have more options in what will happen. the feeling of  that you are in the journey with the character and uncovering clues is exciting and gets your heart racing. i get "sweaty palm syndrome" whenever there is a plot twist because that could mean anything for the remainder of the film.

2) Action

This genre is one of the most used in the film industry because of the thrill it gives the audience and the adrenaline rush they receive during the film. I like this genre because it allows you witness events that you wouldn't be able to see in real life. an example of this is the fast and furious 6 where you witness one of the main characters jumping from a moving tank in an attempt to jump on the back of a moving car. ON A PUBLIC ROAD!
That would never happen in real life.

3) Family

This genre just fuels the little kid within me with uncontrollable excitement. I must say this genre is a secret of mine because it isn't at all " macho macho man " but I find myself singing along to the songs, dancing along to the dances, feeling incredible sadness when the main character is in some sort of trouble. I guess it is safe to say I'm still a 5 year old at heart.
